Differences Between Different Electric Drills

Mar 10, 2023

Electric Drills Can be Divided Into Three Categories: Electric Hand Drills, Impact Drills and Hammer Drills.

1. Electric hand drill: the power is the smallest, and the scope of use is limited to drilling wood and being an electric screwdriver. Some electric hand drills can be changed into special tools according to the purpose, with many purposes and models.

2. Impact drill: There are two types of impact mechanism of impact electric drill: dog tooth type and ball type. Ball-type impact electric drill is composed of moving disc, fixed disc, steel ball, etc. The moving disc is connected with the main shaft through the thread and is equipped with 12 steel balls; The fixed plate is fixed on the casing with pins and has 4 steel balls. Under the action of thrust, 12 steel balls roll along the 4 steel balls, making the cemented carbide bit produce rotary impact motion, and can drill holes on brittle materials such as bricks, blocks and concrete. Take off the overhead pin to make the fixed disc rotate with the moving disc without impact, and can be used as a common electric drill.

3. Hammer drill (electric hammer): It can drill holes on a variety of hard materials, with the widest range of use.

The prices of these three electric drills are arranged from low to high, and the functions are also increased. The selection needs to be combined with their respective application scope and requirements.

Difference Between Electric Hand Drill, Impact Drill, Hammer Drill and Electric Pick

1. The electric hand drill only relies on the motor to drive the transmission gear to increase the rotation force of the drill bit, so that the drill bit can scrape through metal, wood and other materials.

2. When the percussion drill works, there is an adjusting knob at the bit collet, which can be used in two ways: adjustable drill and percussion drill. But the impact drill uses the gears on the inner shaft to beat each other to achieve the impact effect, and the impact force is far less than the electric hammer. It can also drill reinforced concrete, but the effect is not good.

3. Hammer drill (electric hammer) is different. It uses the motor at the bottom to drive two sets of gear structures, one of which is used to drill, and the other is used to drive the piston. It is like the hydraulic stroke of the engine, producing a strong impact force, accompanied by the effect of drilling. Strength can split stones and divide gold.

4. The electric pick is used to make the motor drive the swing weight to operate in the form of bouncing, so that the pick has the effect of chiseling the ground. The hydraulic pump pick uses the gas pressure transmitted by the air compressor to drive the pump hammer in the electric pick to bounce back and forth, thus producing the effect of chiseling the ground. However, the electric pick only chisels, and its pick does not rotate.

In short, the electric drill can only drill, and the impact drill can also have a slight impact effect. Hammer drill can drill and hammer higher, while electric pick can only hammer and not drill.
